Remembering Robin Williams

Last week, the world lost a comedy legend in the most tragic way. Robin Williams was a gift to us all. His career and legacy extend far beyond what I and other millenials know him for, primarily as Mrs. Doubtfire and the world’s favorite genie.

Here is one of my favorite scenes from Mrs. Doubtfire, which is still a movie I love to quote!

If you grew up in the ‘90s, Robin Williams’ movies were like the soundtrack to your childhood. In fact, I think he is the first actor who I had ever observed playing multiple roles. After watching Mrs. Doubtfire countless times in my Little Mermaid pajamas, I remember seeing a familiar face on the cover of the Jack VHS. I thought to myself, who is this Jack person pretending to be Mrs. Doubtfire?

The world will be a little bit darker without Robin Williams here to make us all laugh – I was so looking forward to the Mrs. Doubtfire sequel. Unfortunately, it has become more clear that comedy was Robin’s outlet to ease his battle with depression. He is definitely a talent who can never be impersonated – pun intended.
