So, this was me today at work:
Today, Netflix announced that as of January 1, 2015, the ENTIRE SERIES of Friends will be available for streaming.
Just let that sink in… all 10 seasons. All 236 episodes.
Now as a true Friends fan, I of course have the entire box set on DVD (and you can see how much I love it), but now I don’t even have to get off the couch to watch the best TV series of all time.
Here is the video Netflix posted on their Facebook page when they made the announcement:
Seriously, what’s not to love about this show? For a decade, we followed this relatable storyline of six 20-somethings just trying to get by in life, and in love. The Ross and Rachel love story? C’mon people… my heart still melts.
You can’t help but appreciate the gifted writing of David Crane and Marta Kauffman, coupled with the incredible talent of all six actors. Every character has their quirks, and they were developed to a T. Their unique personas were so believable.
Chandler’s bad jokes, Phoebe’s overall weirdness, Ross’s nerdy dinosaur rants and bad luck with women, Joey’s adorable moments of cluelessness, Monica’s competitiveness and OCD habits, and Rachel’s vanity – you really felt like you knew these guys.
The creators have even said it themselves — when you put all six of them in a room, it’s just magic.
Which leads me to one of my favorite episodes… “The One Where No One’s Ready.” This episode aired in the third season, and it was at a time when they needed to cut back on their budget and use their existing sets instead of creating new ones for different scenes. As a result, this entire episode was filmed in Monica and Rachel’s apartment, and it was pure gold. Comedic genius.
“Could I BE wearing any more clothes?”
As my good friend Yenisse would say, I find a way to incorporate a Friends quote in every life situation. There are so many absolutely hilarious episodes, but one of my favorites has to be “The One with Unagi.”
Ross is my favorite. Who’s your favorite friend?
